Gary Bash performs the pre-race application of gooey
stuff in his nether-regions as the sun greets us. |
 |
Gary and I at the start line only minutes prior to
embarking on our self-torture. |
 |
Me at the starting line getting my standard blind pic
of the crowd. The next picture is the pic I took. |
 |
Another one of my famous "hold the camera over the
head and shoot blindly" shots looking toward the start line. |
 |
"We don't really have to go over those mountains, do
we? No one told me that there'd be climbing!!!" |
 |
"God, please forgive me for this catastrophic stupidity
I'm am about to partake in..." |
 |
And we're off! Off in the head, that is. This is still
when we felt confident but oh how that would change rather
suddenly. |
 |
This is Gary at about the 5 mile mark. We had just
ran up the mountain, crested it, and climbed down into a
gorge with a small stream. It was actually a little cold
here. |
 |
The beloved Hogback Road: straight, slightly downhill,
and smooth. This is Gary trying to slow down to maintain
pace and strength he will need later. |
 |
This is me being dwarfed by a mountain. The day was
absolutely gorgeous. |
